“I wrote this book because I’ve had to start over more times than I ever expected, and I realized how many people think they’re broken or finished when they’re really just in the middle of becoming. I wanted to write the book I wish I’d had when everything fell apart. Too many people think failure means the end. I wanted to show them it can be the beginning—if they’re willing to face it, release it, and rebuild with intention. ”

“It’s not meant to be aggressive toward the reader—it’s meant to interrupt the voice in their head that says they’re done. Sometimes kindness sounds like a whisper. Sometimes it sounds like a wake-up call.  I am not yelling at people with this title—I am standing next to them and saying, ‘I know this is hard, but you’re still here for a reason.’”

"Trees are seasonal, like people. And we all know that growth in real life doesn’t happen all at once. Trees show us that you can look still on the surface while everything important is happening underground.  And trees don’t rush. They bend, they lose leaves, they survive storms—and they keep growing anyway. That felt like the most honest metaphor for rebuilding a life. "

"Difficult, no.  Will it be uncomfortable? Maybe.  If it feels uncomfortable, it usually means you’re addressing the right issues. The workbook doesn’t rush you forward—it helps you clean the ground before you build on it. And remember that  staying stuck is more uncomfortable in the long run."

About the author

If you're waiting for permission to start over, this is it!

Over the course of his career, Brandon Meisner he has navigated multiple reinventions — across countries, careers, and identities — all while exploring what it truly means to start over. Drawing from those experiences, he has written extensively on growth, resilience, and the power of rebuilding one’s life from the ground up.

Get the Fuck Up, You’re Not Done is his unapologetic guide to the art of reinvention — forged from real-world lessons, late-night reflections, and the unshakable belief that it’s never too late to begin again.

This is Meisner's third book.
